I wanted to become a counsellor when I was in my early twenties but I did not have the courage to pursue this. Instead I chose studying special educational needs.
Whilst studying I worked as an assistant nurse on a psychiatric ward. There I realised that all of us, no matter the gender, age or background, could reach breaking point because sometimes life just asks too much of us. I also understood that hope is essential in any recovery and that sometimes other people need to have it for us. Training to become a special needs teacher ultimately was not the right choice for me and only when I decided to train as a counsellor, did I begin to feel ‘at home’ with myself again.
It is because of my personal experiences that I am passionate about helping you find your individual path to improved mental health. I cherish our individual differences whilst keeping grounded in our common humanity. Our ability to survive, overcome, heal and grow continuous to astound me. I marvel at the positive difference it can make to our mental wellbeing when we are expressing ourselves freely in the presence of someone trustworthy, empathic and non-judgmental.
